Krishna Janmashtami katha
King Kansa imprisoned his sister Devaki because her eighth child was foretold to kill him.
Krishna was born at midnight; the prison doors opened and Vasudeva carried him across the Yamuna to Gokul.
He grew up with Yashoda and Nanda and later freed Mathura from Kansa.
