Shani Sade Sati
What Sade Sati is, its three phases, how it affects each sign, and the traditional remedies.
What is Sade Sati?
Sade Sati is the seven-and-a-half-year transit of Saturn over the 12th, 1st and 2nd signs from your Moon sign. Each phase lasts about two and a half years. It returns roughly every 30 years, so most people go through it two or three times.
The three phases
Rising phase (Saturn in the 12th from the Moon): expenses, travel, sleep and changes in surroundings. Peak phase (Saturn over the Moon): pressure on the mind, health and personal life, but also maturity. Setting phase (Saturn in the 2nd): family, money and speech, with gradual relief.
Effects
It is a period of hard work, responsibility and karmic lessons. For people whose charts have a strong or well-placed Saturn, or whose Lagna is ruled by Venus or Saturn, it often brings success and stability. Its result also depends on the dasha running.
When is it milder?
It is milder when Saturn is exalted, in its own sign or a yogakaraka in your chart, when Jupiter aspects the Moon, or when a favourable dasha is running.
Remedies
Worship Hanuman and Lord Shiva; recite the Hanuman Chalisa or Shani Stotra on Saturdays; light a sesame-oil lamp under a peepal tree; donate black sesame, mustard oil, iron or black cloth on Saturdays; and serve the elderly, workers and the needy.
A single placement is never read alone: sign, aspects, conjunctions, dasha and the whole chart change the outcome.
